Hello Monkeyverse!!!
Did ya'll miss your Lowdown Motown Junkie? WELL SHE MISSED YOU!!!
I bet you were all wondering where the other 2/3 of this tripod of monkey love has been! Well, 1/3 was in Florida for the weekend, but now she is back and ready to stop referring to herself in the third person! Tehehe!
By now, you've seen Miss Carrie introduce herself and explain to you how she got involved with the Monkeyverse and now I think it is time for me to introduce myself and share with you how I got involved in the Monkeyverse!
It all started with Twilight... which is a story that has been heard before. Mine isn't much different... other than the fact that I personally am not a reader. I don't follow book trends, I never read Harry Potter and I usually don't read fantasy stuff. So when my co-workers at the time pressured me into reading Twilight, I have to admit I wasn't expecting much to come of it. I clearly wasn't expecting to get hooked on the series.... BUT I did.
So a slight fascination with the character of Jasper, a midnight movie premiere, and extreme satisfaction with Jackson Rathbone's portrayal of my favorite character... I did a little more research and discovered this cool, funky band we all know as 100 Monkeys!
The first song I heard was Ugly Girl. Instantly, I fell in love! After that, I listened to Orson Brawl. I knew then and there I had to have their CDs! SO I bought Grape first and I listened to it nonstop for 3 weeks. Shortly after that, I saw that they were doing a tour and one of their stops was going to be here in the Motor City! After some convincing, I got two friends to go to the show with me and that's all it took; that show in Detroit was one of the most energetic, inspiring concerts I have ever seen in my entire life. The venue was small and intimate and only about 100 people showed up but it was one of the best concerts of my entire life.
I no longer was only interested in seeing Jackson Rathbone, I became even more interested in the band as a whole. Seeing them live is one of the most amazing things and I would encourage anyone, anywhere to try their damndest to see these guys live! They energy level is always high and you literally feel like they are performing JUST for you. Like I said, this was the best concert I had ever been to...
That is... until Pittsburgh, PA on April 28th... :)
Stay tuned for the next installment of Melissa's Motor City Ditty to find out more!
Much Monkey Love,
The Lowdown Motown Junkie
